SnoWatch: Boulder Creek Watershed

Watershed:format for printing

The Boulder Creek watershed drains about 102 square miles above Orodell stream gauge located west of the City of Boulder. In an average year, the Boulder Creek watershed produces about 71,000 acre-feet of water. Nearly 80% of the production (56,000 acre-feet) occurs during the peak snowmelt months of April through July.

The Boulder Creek watershed provides water to the cities of Boulder, Louisville and Lafayette and numerous ditch and reservoir companies in eastern Boulder County.

Our SnoWatch system displays year-to-date snow accumulation for three SNOTELs in the Boulder Creek watershed. Niwot and University Camp are both high-elevation SNOTEL sites in the northern part of the watershed. Lake Eldora is a middle-elevation site located in the southern part of the watershed.
